The activities conducted by the IEEE VVCE STUDENT Branch Vidya Vardhaka College of Engineering, Mysore for
the ODD Semester 2004.
- July 2004: Received the Student branch recognition letter from IEEE USA. Student branch code – 63251.
- 11th September: Student Branch Activities inaugurals by Wg. Cdr. Parthasarathy, Treasurer IEEE Bangalore section
and Sri PM Chikkaboraiah, Former MLA and president VV Sangha Mysore. Dr. C R Venugopal, Professor, SJCE Mysore presided.
- Followed by talk on emerging trends in Communication by Wg. Cdr Parthasarathy.
- 18th September: Technical Talk1: Bharath V Kumar Land T Infotech Bangalore
- 29th September: Aptitude tests henceforth conducted every Tuesday,
- 4th and 5th October: IMPULSE 2004 First Annual Fest of VVCE IEEE SB
- Appointment of Mr. Harish Kashyap, Delphi Automotive systems and Student Branch Mentor.
The technical extravaganza at VVCE Mysore presented by the IEEE VVCE Student Branch coming under the IEEE Bangalore section
of Region 10 was held on the 4th and 5th of October 2004. Press releases were given in the leading news
papers like Times of India, Star of Mysore and The Hindu. With lots of publicity also with support form the Bangalore section
the fest had participants from several colleges in Karnataka.
This being the first edition of the event the event was held at state level. Technical Papers from students
of various colleges were presented in four different sections in the event, namely in Signal Processing, Artificial Intelligence,
VLSI and Communication and Networking. Also events like IT Quiz, Software debugging, Software Designing and Online Gaming
were held.
The event was inaugurated on 4th October by Wg. Cdr. Parthasarathy, Treasurer IEEE Bangalore Section
and Prof. P M Chikkaboraiah, President VV Sangha Mysore. Mr. P Vishwanath Secretary VV Sangha, Prof. B L S Murthy, Plincpal
VVCE and Prof. Basavaraj L, Counselor of the IEEE Student branch in the college were present on the occasion. The event began
with the lighting of the lamp from the chief guest.
The day also witnessed the appointment of Harish K Kashyap of Delphi automotive systems as the Mentor of
the VVCE IEEE Student Branch.
The inaugural was followed by paper presentation contest in the arena of Communication and Networking which
had twelve papers to be presented. The following prizes were awarded in this category
- Amith Roy and Mir Mansur Ali - MIT, Manipal – I Prize
- Shweta Jha and Vani S – VVCE, Mysore – II Prize
- Harish B S – SJCE, Mysore – Special Prize
The Project presentation contest was held in parallel to the Networking paper presentation contest and had
fifteen selected entries. The following prizes were awarded in the category
- Prashanth S and Harish K L – VVCE – I prize
- Manoj G R Vedanthy – VVIET, Mysore – II Prize
The afternoon session had the signal processing paper presentation contest with four selected papers being
presented. Naveen A and Naveen K Bhansali of VVCE won the prize in the section.
The General Quiz prelims and finals were held soon after and Quiz master K Thanuj Kumar conducted the finals
online. Mr. Vikas and Prabhakar Kudaava of SJCE won the first prize and Mr. Siddarth and Karthik of VVCE won the second.
The second day started with a technical talk on Artificial Intelligence by Dr. Bansi Lal of NIE, Mysore.
The students were enlightened regarding the Applications of AI in the technological world.
The session also had the Artificial Intelligence paper presentation contest with four selected papers being
presented. Gautham B of SJCE won the prize in the section.
The afternoon session had the VLSI paper presentation contest with four selected papers being presented.
Ajay U K and Somana K P of VVCE won the prize in the section.
The Software design and debugging talks were held in the afternoon session and the following prizes were
awarded:

Software Debugging
- Devi Prasad – NIE – I prize
- Sunil Urs R – VVCE – II Prize.
Dr. Srinivas. T, Prof., Dept of ECE. IISc Bangalore and Prof. P S Bhojakumar, HOD E&C NIE Mysore gave away the prizes.
Wg. Cdr. Parthasarathy gave the vote of thanks to the audience and encouraged more students to join the IEEE- the world’s
largest technical organization.
